Swimmers Bentz, Conger Return to US From Rio Following Robbery Claim Scandal




U.S. Olympic swimmers Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger touched base back in the U.S. Friday morning, ABC News has affirmed.

The couple touched base at Miami International Airport around 6:30 a.m. on a flight that withdrew Rio de Janeiro Thursday evening.

Bentz, 20, and Conger, 21, were expelled from their U.S.- bound flight Wednesday evening by Brazilian police, who then met the pair about individual U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte's case that he, Bentz, Conger and kindred Olympian James Feigen were victimized at gunpoint in Rio.

In any case, Rio police said Thursday that they don't trust that the men were burglarized and that they were not casualties.

Rio's Civil Police Chief Fernando Veloso said one or a greater amount of the U.S. Olympians vandalized a washroom at a corner store after they cleared out a gathering early Sunday.
