US Swimmer Jimmy Feigen Agrees to Pay $11K to Avoid Prosecution in Rio




U.S. Olympic swimmer Jimmy Feigen consented to make a $11,000 gift to a Brazilian philanthropy with an end goal to determine a disagreement about cases of being looted in Rio de Janeiro that powers say were made up.

Feigen's legal advisor in Rio, Breno Melaragno Costa, declared the understanding early Friday morning, hours after he sat down with a judge and authorities from the indicting service at a police headquarters in Rio for four hours on Thursday.

Feigen consented to give 35,000 Reals, or generally $11,000, to a Brazilian philanthropy called Reaction Institute.

Feigen is the remainder of the four U.S. swimmers got up to speed in the discussion over a claimed theft staying in Brazil. Costa said that Feigen's identification would be returned and he will be allowed to leave the nation after the installment is made.
